Nature and wildlife artist, explorer
Fred Krakowiak is a leading wildlife artist and writer, and a safari expert. Author of Africa: An Artist’s Safari and The Artist’s Safari, his passion is to capture the experience of seeing animals in Africa in all their motion, magic, and natural habitats.
Fred engages audiences at zoos and museums across the country where he demonstrates his art techniques. He uses dye on silk to paint wildlife while sharing stories of his travels throughout Africa. With unscripted adventures such as facing bull elephants and lions only feet away, he inspires his audiences to step out of their comfort zone and experience life head-on.
With over 25 years of conventional study in a variety of mediums, Fred is commissioned internationally by private collectors. His work is all about spontaneity and movement—the Africa he sees with his artist’s eye. Fred’s work is on display at the Contemporary Fine Arts Gallery in La Jolla, California.
Fred’s books have been described as a “feast for the eyes” by the Virginia Quarterly Review and won him the prestigious 2008 Benjamin Franklin Awards for large-format cover design and best first book for nonfiction. His latest book, a memoir, is Tracking Your Inner Maverick: Career Transition for Trailblazers, Risk Takers & Rule-Breakers.
