With GLP1 ads and headlines dominating the media and diabetes and pre-diabetes diagnoses becoming more common in doctors offices, it's more important than ever to understand how to tune out the noise of diet culture and hone in on why it's essential that we pay attention to our body's evolving ability to regulate blood sugar.
When we think of blood sugar, we often think of "good" and "bad" foods regulating and spiking how we feel during the day. We think of diabetes, obesity, and what our society has deemed "looks" healthy.
On Friday, April 25, join us for an immersive 1440 Community Education Event & Discovery Dinner where you will gain knowledge to Take Control of Your Blood Sugar. Instructed by 1440 Adjunct Faculty member and Functional Medicine Clinician Darla Booth, DC, CMFC, you'll learn about the systemic influence of blood sugar regulation on our bodies - impacting not only our weight and body composition but also inflammation, sleep, stress and anxiety, tissue health, heart disease, hormone balance, and even dementia.
With continuous glucose monitors now available for purchase without prescription, we have new tools for optimizing our health through all the stages of our lives. Discover ways to shift from making shame-based decisions about what we put in our bodies into making decisions rooted in data.
In this 90-minute workshop, you will learn about:
The value of CGMs for monitoring and optimizing nutrition
Understanding hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia
The affects of blood sugar on inflammation
Reducing stress and improving sleep
How hormonal changes impact insulin resistance
Demystifying GLP1s
The importance of being strong over skinny
Following this educational session, join us in Kitchen Table where you will participate in a sustainable and locally sourced community dinner at as the 1440 Culinary Team shares their insights into our "food as medicine" philosophy regarding preparation and nutritional qualities of the ingredients locally grown and produced from our neighboring farming community.
