We believe there is great power in immersion learning—setting aside daily urgencies and dedicating uninterrupted time and energy to focus on our more important, but often more elusive, priorities. Add trusted faculty, proven curriculum, fresh air, delicious food, deep reflection, fun exercise, and good sleep to that equation and you’ve pretty much captured what it is that we do here.

This is a place to spend time engaging some of life’s most meaningful personal questions and to enjoy, restore, and reenergize yourself as you do it. Look forward to the perfect blend of an ideal vacation coupled with learning you can bring home.

Learning to be in strong, meaningful, and authentic relationships – with ourselves, with each other, and with the world around us – is the most important work we can do. The goal of 1440 Multiversity is to help each of us craft and live more integrated lives – both personally and professionally.

WHAT IS 1440?

Named for the 1440 minutes in a day, we are founded on the belief that each minute is an opportunity to be present and aware of how we connect with what matters—both within and around us.

We believe the deepest learning happens when we nurture and awaken all aspects of ourselves. A multiversity is a place designed to encourage and invite this process to unfold in each of us—on relational, emotional, somatic, intellectual, and spiritual levels.

“Bringing together so many diverse disciplines under one roof in an environment where you have access to an amazing natural landscape; incredible, healthy food; and a vast curriculum from leadership to creativity to art to yoga to personal development – that’s a place where people really can thrive.”

– Albert Flynn DeSilver, Poet

Scott Kriens, the Chairman and former CEO of Juniper Networks, and his wife, Joanie Kriens, started the 1440 Foundation in 2010, recognizing that the blazing success of the internet catalyzed powerful connections, yet did not help people connect to themselves.

In its early years, 1440 Foundation was entirely focused on philanthropic grant-making in support of individuals and organizations committed to helping us grow in relationship, spirit, and wellness. The creation of 1440 Multiversity stemmed from a desire to establish a beautiful and nurturing physical location where people of all walks of life could come together in community—to explore, learn, reflect, connect, and reenergize.
